I knew from the moment that I met Scott and Jess that they would be a great couple to work with. Down-to-earth and incredibly sweet, I loved working with these two!
One of my all-time favorite memories from their wedding day happened during the ceremony. I adore seeing my couples sneak in those special little glances where–in that moment–it seems like they are the only two in the room. I was able to snap a few pictures to capture those looks that I hope they can cherish for years to come. I also became a little teary eyed myself when Jess showed emotion while taking her vows. Melts my heart every time.
Held at the St. Jerome Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas, their reception followed at a hall on the property. They chose a navy, orange and green theme accented with twinkling string lights. Thankfully, we were blessed with great weather. With scattered showers anticipated throughout the day, it wasn’t clear if we’d have the opportunity to take pictures outside. With the best of luck, it wasn’t until following the ceremony and our portraits that nearly the moment we were all seated and inside the reception hall, the sky unloaded and a strong rain started. It quickly cleared and we even had a few minutes to capture the sunset.
Memorable details from Scott and Jess’ special day included the gift card box. Designed as a church and built by Jess’ uncle in the 70s, it has been used at all of the family weddings since that time. Additional family heirlooms were Scott’s cufflinks (his grandfather’s) and Jess’ earrings belonged to her grandmother. I also loved their Lego cake toppers!
After dinner, I had the pleasure to photograph my very first Dajcie Dajcie –a Polish wedding tradition to raise money for the couple’s first child. Friends and family members went around the hall singing for the couple. It was so much fun to see and the festivities really kicked off from there. The Grand March was next followed by very touching toasts by both Scott and Jess’ brothers –the Man of Honor and Best Man. After that, we had the first dances and more fun throughout the night. The evening ended with everyone waving glowing lights at the couple as they exited.
